WHY WE LOVE IT
The Rolex Submariner is a classic, and there’s good reason why almost every collector winds up with a vintage Rolex sports model in their stash - these are timeless, tough, do-anything, go-anywhere tool watches.
Rolex has been producing Submariners uninterrupted since the watch was introduced in 1953, and while those first Big Crown subs are truly incredible pieces, most of us will have to wait for our lottery numbers to hit to get one of those strapped to our wrist.
This particular example dates to circa 1975 and features the 39mm Oyster case with 'holey-lugs' that we all love, a matte black Tritium 'meters first' dial with a matching handset, a domed acrylic crystal, a bidirectional rotating dive timing bezel showing a navy fade, and a correct folded-link Oyster bracelet with a signed blade clasp.
The Reference 5513 is arguably the cleanest variant of the Submariner line - a true icon of icons, and no collection should be without one!
This one is no exception.
OVERALL CONDITION
The later service case is in very good, strong condition overall with thick lugs showing sleeve polish and wear consistent with age and use with factory finishing. Matte black 'meters first' Tritium dial is in fantastic condition overall with matching handset. Bezel insert shows navy blue fading and wear. Signed Triplock crown.
