WHY WE LOVE IT
–
Breguet makes the best dials in the biz. Yeah, we said it.
Their signature engine-turned dials, individually numbered and hand-finished, are simply beautiful works of art.
The Breguet Classique Moonphase Power Reserve Date isn’t merely the proud recipient of an excellent Breguet dial, however — it’s also a complicated masterwork, displaying the time, phase of the moon, date, and a power reserve, all within the confines of a 36mm case. Quite simply, it’s evidence that, if well executed, even a smaller dial can convey a multitude of information without becoming overcrowded.
Dating to the late 1990s and housed in a 36mm 18K yellow gold, coin-edge case with a sapphire crystal, a sapphire cabochon, and a polished bezel, it features a silver clous de Paris and brushed silver dial with painted black ‘Roman’ indices, a blued-steel Breguet handset, a moonphase aperture between 1 and 2:00, a date sundial at 6:00, and a power reserve indicator from 9 to 12:00. Well balanced and beautiful, it’s a perfect modern example of classically-inspired watchmaking done right.
Powered by the automatic Breguet Calibre 502 movement with 37 jewels and paired to a black leather strap with an 18K yellow gold pin buckle, it comes with its factory goodies, including email correspondence with Breguet.
Stunning to behold and quite possibly perfectly sized, this Reference 3130 BA is stuff horological dreams are made of.
Once you try it on, we’re sure you’ll see what we mean.
