WHY WE LOVE IT
In 1968, Patek Philippe released the Golden Ellipse.
Debuting eight years before the iconic Nautilus, the Ellipse—with its distinctive oval shape—was unlike anything else in Patek Philippe’s catalogs.
This example, a Reference 3586J, features a solid 18k yellow gold case with a lovely gloss black crocodile leather strap with a matching signed yellow gold pin buckle, a stunning sunburst blue sigma dial with applied yellow gold indices and a matching pencil handset, and Patek's automatic-winding Calibre 28-255 movement inside.
Furthermore, this piece remains in fantastic overall condition and comes with an Extract from the Archives confirming original sale on 5/15/1974.
Watches such as this one are fun and wonderful timepieces, and there's no telling if and when one of these in any condition will surface again, so don't wait!
OVERALL CONDITION
The case is in excellent condition overall showing signs of light polishing and faint signs of wear from gentle use. Sunburst blue 'sigma' dial with applied 18k yellow gold indices shows light and even patination with matching ‘pencil’ handset. Signed crown.
