WHY WE LOVE IT
Grand Seiko is the darling of contemporary watch collectors today, and after taking even a cursory glance at their watches’ specs — or better yet, an example in the metal — it’s easy to see why.
The artisanal talent that goes into the design and manufacturing process of GS dials alone is stupefying. Depending on the angle, the color and composition of a textured dial will look completely different. They’re truly works of art steeped in Japanese tradition!
The SBGE248 is a prime example of this fine artisanship — the type of watch that stops you in your tracks and makes you take a closer look. Housed in a 44mm stainless steel case with holey lugs, a sapphire crystal, an 18K yellow gold, a yellow gold signed crown, and a luminous yellow gold bezel with a blue 24-hour insert, it features a luminous glossy blue dial with applied yellow gold indices and a matching yellow gold handset, a power reserve indicator, and a date window at 4:30.
Powered by Grand Seiko’s renowned Caliber 9R66 Spring Drive movement with 72 hours of power reserve, it comes paired to a stainless steel bracelet with a push-button deployant clasp. In outstanding condition throughout, this beauty includes its factory goodies and partial stickering.
Sure — you could put your name down for the same GMT watch that everyone and their mother is wearing. Or you could ‘spring’ for something much more interesting, and dare we say, unique. But don’t take our word for it…
