WHY WE LOVE IT
This has to be one of the best collaborations in horological history.
Ming, the Malaysian boutique brand founded in 2017, teamed up with Massena LAB, brainchild of watch industry veteran William Massena, on a special, limited-edition timepiece, the 17.09 Ming X Massena LAB Honey. Inspired by midcentury Rolex “honeycomb” dials, this LE of 50 pieces quickly sold out due to both its good looks and the reputations of its partner brands.
This particular 17.09 from the circa 2020s features a 38mm stainless steel case, unique Ming flared lugs, a sapphire crystal, a signed crown, a polished bezel, a yellow honeycomb and brushed dial with laser-etched, white Super-LumiNova Arabic indices and logos on the sapphire crystal (cool!), a matching, skeletonized alpha handset, and a Jean Rousseau black leather strap with a signed pin buckle. Powered by the automatic Sellita SW330-2 movement, it’s in like-new condition and comes with much of its ephemera.
Well-sized, wildly unique and highly collectible, this is one of the best boutique watch brand releases we’ve seen in quite a while.
