WHY WE LOVE IT
–
Tudor Subs offer a distinctive flavor of "The Same...But Completely Different!"
Its watches were Rolexes in all but name: same Rolex Oyster case, same crowns, and Rolex crystals. The only difference was what beat inside the Oyster cases — Swiss ETA movements rather than movements that Rolex built in-house.
We've long appreciated the subtle variations and the tremendous value proposition that Tudor offers when compared to their Rolex siblings.
This particular piece, a Reference 79090, dates to circa 1990 and features a fantastic, strong holey-lug Oyster case, a matte black dial with evenly patinated Tritium indices and a matching handset, a magnified acrylic crystal, a folded-link Oyster bracelet with a Tudor-signed fliplock clasp, and of course the always-desirable classic Rolex Submariner proportions.
This piece offers exceptional bang for the buck in the neo-vintage sports watch category — don't miss it!
