WHY WE LOVE IT
–
Complicated watches are micro-engineering miracles.
Imagine the technical facility and savoir faire required to craft something that displays multiple time zones, or tracks the leap years, or counts up to 12 hours…and that can fit on your wrist? What about something that does several of these sophisticated timekeeping jobs simultaneously?
That’s the story of the Amvox 5 World Chronograph Cermet Limited Edition from La Grand Maison itself, Jaeger-LeCoultre. A special collaboration with Aston Martin, it’s produced in high-tech cermet, a material made of an aluminum core with ceramic particles that’s covered in a protective ceramic coating 40 microns thick. Developed for race car engines, cermet couldn't be more appropriate for an automotive-themed watch.
This particular Amvox 5 World Chronograph Cermet Limited Edition is housed in a 44mm black cermet and titanium case with a sapphire crystal, dual signed, grey ceramic and rubber crowns, a ceramic and rubber ‘doorstop’ pusher, and a smooth bezel. It features a luminous, matte black dial with an outer, rotating city bezel in black and white, applied, stylized ‘Arabic’ indices, a matching, lumed handset, a dual-register chronograph, and a date window at 6 o’clock.
Using the watch’s secondary crown, one can easily adjust the automatic Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 752/1 to track a desired second time zone, while the ‘doorstop’ pusher can be used to measure elapsed time up to 12 hours. With its signed, black leather and nylon strap with red side-stitching, black ceramic pin and stainless steel deployant clasp, the Amvox 5 World Chronograph is an excellent choice for the busy traveler on the move. But don’t take our word for it…
Try it out for yourself!
