WHY WE LOVE IT
Precious metal Datejusts with factory stone dials are truly special pieces. Built in very small numbers so as not to compete with its "Big Brother" Day-Date, solid gold Datejusts have been around since they were introduced in 1945, but are very scarce on the market today. We jump whenever we find a clean one - but finding one with a special factory dial such as this outstanding black Onyx stone example makes for a particularly good day! This watch, a Reference 16238, dates to circa 1990 and features a dial that is nothing short of breathtaking in its austerity. The depths of its solid Onyx stone dial are mesmerizing, and the combination of fluted bezel and hidden-clasp Jubilee bracelet makes it a truly impressive specimen worthy of top-tier collections. Featuring a strong case, magnified sapphire crystal, and quickset movement, this is a truly rare piece that doesn't come around all that often - and something that we love to get some time with! When only a gold Rolex will do, this Datejust is it just with a bit of added flair! OVERALL CONDITION The case is in excellent condition overall showing normal signs of wear consistent with age and use. Non-luminous 'Onyx' stone dial with factory applied yellow gold and diamond 6 and 9 indices with framed date window is in equally excellent condition with matching handset. Signed crown.
