WHY WE LOVE IT
Not every timepiece from the world’s greatest watchmaker fits neatly into the mold of an overarching theme or collection.
While we love a simple Calatrava, a sporty Aquanaut, or a complicated perpetual calendar as much as the next guy, the oddball, more overlooked and usually limited-production, shaped watches made by the maison in second half of the 20th century are often some of the most innovative and charming in the brand’s oeuvre.
Take this ladies’ Gondolo for example. Dating to the 2000s, it has a stepped rectangular Art Deco case - encrusted with factory diamonds and fitted to a lovely white gold 'beads of rice' bracelet.
Its 22mm white gold case houses a lovely white Mother of Pearl dial with a diamond encrusted center section, a matching white gold handset, and a reliable quartz movement within.
While any precious metal dress watch is sure to earn a nod of respect from watch lovers, this unique Gondolo is guaranteed to earn one from anyone!
