WHY WE LOVE IT
–
When you think of Cartier, their longstanding history in jewelry probably comes to mind. But they also have a reputation for making timeless and elegant timepieces, which they’ve been doing for over a century.
The Tank Louis is without question the brand’s most well-known model, but the story doesn't end there. Beyond the Louis line are numerous executions — many produced in very limited quantities — that are quite literally some of the most beautiful timepieces ever made.
This particular Tank is an extraordinary ladies’ piece from circa the 1970s - early 1980s. It features a striking 15.5mm yellow gold case - encrusted with yellow diamonds, a mineral crystal, a yellow diamond cabochon crown, and a white enamel ‘Paris’-signed dial with printed Roman indices and a matching blued steel handset. It comes fitted to a mustard-yellow alligator leather strap with a signed gold deployant clasp. Lots of yellow going on here!
One could spend an entire lifetime just collecting Tanks, nevermind the rest of the staggering Cartier oeuvre. Why not start here, with this rare, stunning piece that you are not likely to catch again.
Try it on for size!
